John graduated from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland in 1994. He started his career in Lethbridge, Alberta. He then spent time working in the United States and Southeast Asia before coming to Calgary.
He works with athletes of all levels, injured workers and those involved in motor vehicle accidents. He has extensive knowledge of orthopedic, postural and sport related injuries.
He draws from a range of physiotherapy techniques such as McKenzie techniques, acupuncture/dry needling, manual therapy techniques and exercise prescription. Johns' areas of special interest are treatment of knee and shoulder problems.
John is an avid skier and hiker. He enjoys travelling with his wife and kids.
During his childhood, he practiced different sports and spent most of his spare time playing soccer. His passion for physiotherapy and rehabilitation began when he suffered injuries while playing soccer. He attended some physiotherapy sessions and he fell in love with the profession and how important it is to help patients achieve their goals.
Miguel went to college in Spain and Portugal to complete his Bachelors and Masters Degree. Sports have always been his passion and he took a postgraduate course in the Polytechnical University of Madrid that focused on injury prevention, intervention and functional rehabilitation in physical activities.
He worked in Madrid for 3 years. Miguel has treated a variety of pathologies related to orthopedics and sports. He believes that therapeutic exercise is one of the most powerful tools physiotherapists have in order to help patients recover faster and to have a healthier and more active lifestyle. He also uses trigger point dry needling and manual therapy to treat his patients. Miguel loves to involve the patient in their own recovery and establish a good therapeutic alliance with the patient.
Some interesting things about Miguel are that he is improving his ski skills, plays soccer and goes to the gym regularly. He loves hiking and enjoying the nature of this beautiful area of the world.
